Mohamed Salah was moved to tears as Liverpool fans paid an emotional tribute to the late Diogo Jota following their 4-2 win over Bournemouth on Friday.

Salah, who scored the Reds' fourth goal on what was an emotional opening night of the new 2025-26 Premier League season, joined fans in performing a rendition of their chant for Jota, 28, who tragically died in a car crash alongside his brother Andre Silva, 25, in Spain in July.

Powerful tributes were also paid to Jota before the match as Liverpool supporters in both the Kop and the Sir Kenny Dalglish stands formed mosaics which read 'DJ20' and 'AS30'. The Premier League champions went on to win the game in Jota's honour thanks to goals from Hugo Ekitike, Cody Gakpo, Federico Chiesa and Salah after Antoine Semenyo scored twice for Bournemouth.
