Greenwood took to the field in brand new Nike boots, that appeared to be custom made and containing multiple colours, as Getafe won 1-0 in the Copa del Rey. Nike confirmed earlier this year that they do not have a sponsorship deal with the forward, after they cut ties in February 2022 following his arrest on suspicion of attempted rape, assault and coercive behaviour. Those charges were subsequently dropped, allowing Greenwood to return to football, but no relationship exists between the sportswear giant and the former England international.

Greenwood has remained an integral member of the Getafe squad this season and the club are now preparing for the next round of cup football. The striker has scored twice in the Copa del Rey already, in a 12-0 win over CF Tardienta in the first round, with the Manchester United loanee having scored three times in La Liga. Indeed, he was able to play in Saturday's Copa del Rey round of 32 tie despite being sent off against Rayo Vallecano as the red card was later rescinded.

DID YOU KNOW?

Greenwood isn't the only footballer to wear new boots this weekend, as Paris Saint-Germain superstar Kylian Mbappe also modelled a fresh pair based on Nike's famous TN trainer. The purple variation were on show at Parc des Princes as PSG beat Toulouse 2-0 to win the Trophee des Champions.

Greenwood is likely to be in action next time out when Getafe face Osasuna on January 21. It remains to be seen who they will play in the next Copa del Rey round. As for the striker's long-term future, the 22-year-old has been linked with moves to the likes of Barcelona and Real Madrid, although it appears he will see out the remainder of his loan with Getafe before returning to United, who will make a decision about what happens next.
