Obi-Martin rose to prominence last season for his goalscoring achievements with Arsenal. A seven-goal haul in one game against Norwich ensured he finished the campaign with 28 goals in the Under-18 Premier League. Before stepping up that level, the 16-year-old had scored ten times in a 14-3 win against Liverpool's Under-16s. But he chose to leave Arsenal in the summer and took an offer from United. The Gunners were understandably keen not to lose him, although everything was eventually signed off in late September.

WHAT CHIDO OBI-MARTIN SAID

Obi-Martin said: "Very happy to sign with this amazing club, time to focus and achieve all my dreams. Thanks to everyone who has helped me get this far."

Obi-Martin will turn 17 next month, at which point he will become eligible for professional terms. Given his rapid rise, the teenager could well represent Manchester United's Under-21s before the season is out. If he impresses, a first-team opportunity may not be too far behind given the club's renewed willingness to hand out senior minutes to emerging talents in recent times.
